I am happy to send you the first issue of the Bridesmaid's Bulletin, which I hope will be a monthly communication from me to you up until the big day!
Really, I decided to send this email because I went bridesmaid's dress shopping this weekend and have narrowed it down to two choices. And I want your opinions on which dress you'd rather wear. But then I thought (since my profession is communications after all), I would make this email thing a regular event. So I can tell you guys what's going on. So you can learn more about each other. And so we can plan all the fun we're going to have in Memphis! First, I want to thank all of you for being such great friends and for standing up for Alex and me next spring. You all are important people in my life, and I can't think of four women I'd rather share this happy occasion with. So, who are you, you ask?
One more thing before I get to the bridesmaids' dresses (don't peek yet!): Some important dates and information to mark on your calendars are listed to your right . . . |
Mark Your Calendars! April 5, 2002 Rehearsal dinner in Memphis. Rehearsal will start at 6 pm, and we may have a little "something" for just the girls earlier that day. I'll keep you posted. April 6, 2002 The Big Day. Wedding starts at 6 pm at the Brooks Museum in Memphis. The reception starts immediately after, and it's also at the Brooks Museum. The ceremony will be an outdoor, garden type wedding in the museum's holly courtyard, so pray it doesn't rain! May 11, 2002 A late reception in Dallas. All of you are invited to attend and wear your bridesmaid's dresses. Who says you can't wear them twice? This party will include many Dallas folks that are not invited to the Memphis event, since we want to keep that a smaller, younger affair. We'll also celebrate the fact that it's the day after Catherine's birthday! |

Now to the bridesmaid's dresses. . .
I think I tried on every dress in Dallas, but two in particular struck me as beautiful and unique. I have my favorite, but I won't tell you which one. I want you all to email me back and tell me which one you want to wear. Both pictures are in the colors I would choose for the dress. By the way, thank you Amy for modeling these dresses for us! FYI: My dress is a very similar ivory to the Vera Wang and it is also strapless. Alex and all the men will be wearing black tuxedos. | |
![]() This is a strapless Vera Wang dress that is a light ivory satin with a putty-colored (green-gray) satin trim along the neckline and down the back of the dress. The colors in the picture do not reflect the warmness of the ivory. Unfortunately, the picture makes the dress look more white than ivory, probably because of the flash of the camera. FYI: Amy has an olive skin tone, which looks nice with the cream. I tried it on too, and it wasn't too light for my pale complexion. |
![]() This dress is from Jim Helm and it's black crepe on the bodice with a black satin skirt. There's a large pleat down the back of the skirt that makes it a lot fuller than the Vera Wang. The bodice is a bit like a corset so it will suck you in. |
|
And now for the really good news: The Bond family will be purchasing these dresses for you. We just ask that you take care of any alterations and the shoes (which I haven't picked out yet).
Once I get your votes and make the final decision on the dress, I want to order the dresses right away because it takes three or four months to come in, and the Vera Wang may take longer. Hopefully, the dresses will come in around Christmas (I figured Catherine and Gretchen will be in Dallas around that time), and y'all can try them on to make sure there are no problems. Libby, we'll have to mail yours to you. You can all do the alterations a little closer to the time if you think your weight will fluctuate. When you email me back with your vote, please also send me the following measurements, so we can place the order:
