October 17, 2001                 Issue Number 3
Hello all! I hope all of you are doing well!

Lots has happened since the last bulletin. First and foremost, I have asked Angela Kreuter Rogers to join us as a bridesmaid. She graduated from Rhodes with me and lives in Memphis. Thank you, Angela, for steppin in!

Also, last weekend, I went to Dallas and had my first fitting of my wedding dress, picked out my veil and shoes, ordered invitations, and registered. I also picked out the shoes you all will wear with your dresses. In order to make it easier on you all, we went ahead and ordered them from Bridesmart (where we got your dresses). We're also going to get them dyed when they come in so they match. They will be dyed the putty color of the dress. The shoes, including being dyed, cost $60. Here's what they look like:

Libby and Angela -- I will get the shoes to you when your dress comes in. Catherine and Gretchen -- I can send them to you with your dress, or you can pick them up if you are going to be in Dallas and want Bridesmart to do your dress alterations. You all can decide that later.

I'll get back to you with more details next month!

                     Love,
                       Lori
                   Libby Rich Clark

Libby and I met on the first day of college at Rhodes. Her dorm room was next to mine and when I saw her smiling, friendly face, I know we would immediately become friends. Though geography has kept us apart since she transferred to the University of Chattanooga after our sophomore year, Libby and I have remained close friends.

Not only were Libby and I neighbors in Williford Hall, but I found out on bid day at the Tri Delt house that she was to be my sorority sister as well. It often thought it was a blessing to me that Libby was a Tri Delt because when I became disenchanted with sorority life, I could watch Libby and see how she took the best out of being in a sorority and left the petty stuff behind.

Libby and I lived across campus our sophomore year, but we soon came together again when we stayed in Memphis and rented a house together the next summer. It was then that we really discovered our mutual passion for the Indigo Girls, Camy's cheesecake, and spontaneous road trips. I cannot remember a more fun time that when we lived together that summer. Here, Libby is testing the keg we got for one of our parties. Unfortunately, Libby learned that summer that she had to transfer to UT Chattanooga, but I knew that the bond we had formed that summer would not be lost.

Libby and I have traveled back and forth to Memphis and Chattanooga over the years, but the most memorable trip we took would have to be when Alex and I and Libby and her husband, Heath, went to Amsterdam in the summer of 1998. It was the perfect laid-back atmosphere for us to really renew our friendship and we had a ton of fun going to the Van Gogh museum, the Anne Frank house, and just getting to know each other better.

Libby and Heath married each other this May in a beautiful ceremony at her family's lakehouse, and I was honored to be a part of her ceremony. They recently bought a house in Chattanooga's historic district and are busy doing some terrific renovations.
Hearing about her plans for the house reminded me about what I have always loved about Libby and what makes me want to be around her. Libby's optimism and joy for life, regardless of the punches it throws her sometimes, is infectious. She has a thousand ideas that are exciting and creative. At the same time, she is down to earth and one of the most caring, thoughtful women I have ever known. I hope that we'll live next door to or across town from each other again someday.
