       Happy New Year!

I am just back to work after a much-needed break. I had a very nice Christmas in Massachusetts with Alex's family, and we spent New Year's Eve in Memphis. It was very relaxing.

But now back to work! We're just three months away from the big day, and things are kicking into high gear. There are also two showers happening that I want you all to know about. On February 23, Angela and another friend of mine are throwing me a luncheon. All of you will be invited, but I'm only telling you now so you have time to make arrangements if you want to come. I'd love for you all to be there, but I certainly do not expect you to travel to Memphis yet another time. Then, on March 23, Gretchen and Libby are hosting a shower/ bachelorette party for me, which I'm sure will be loads of fun!

Your bridesmaid's dresses are in and we're in the process of getting your shoes dyed. I will get them to you soon. Also, I wanted to let you know that our rehearsal dinner is going to be pretty formal, so if you want, break out your favorite cocktail dress!

I hope you all have a terrific new year. Talk to you next month!

                     Love,
                       Lori

Angela and I really got to know each other during our internship at Memphis magazine in the fall of 1994 - the semester before we graduated from Rhodes. We may have become friends while goofing off at the internship, but we have remained friends since because of her sincerity and loyalty.

Angela is one of the most "together" women I have met. Not only is she in charge of large consulting projects for Accenture (formerly Anderson Consulting), but she has a very strong marriage with Zack that survives both of their hectic travel schedules.

Still, Angela finds a lot of time for her friends. She is my theater buddy, going with me to see musicals and plays - even when we've already seen it before! We can drink beer and watch cheezy movies together or go out for a nice dinner with intelligent conversation. She is very caring, always planning parties for friends and spending time with her family who lives not far from Memphis.

I also find a lot of comfort in the fact that Angela's and my lives are going in very parallel directions. We bought our first houses around the same time. We are both going to the sometimes-traumatic, always-exciting experience of raising puppies. And we both moan about exercising!

For all these reasons, I asked Angela to step in as a bridesmaid when Amy and Richard broke up. Angela is someone with whom I feel very comfortable and feel very proud to have stand up with me. Thank you, Angela, for being there when I needed you!
